Other Work

Here are some of my renderings done in Photoshop. There is more to come.

My niece has always been infatuated with fairies. She wanted me to draw her as a fairy sitting on a Foxglove. Admittedly, I didn’t know much about fairies, so I did some research. Taking my task seriously, I bought books and downloaded artwork on topic (which there are thousands on the net). I came up with a scene of her wistfully resting on a flower with her little brother and sister mischievously hiding behind a stem.

For the rendering on the top right, I've had a longtime love/hate relationship with the New York Knicks. I can’t even bring myself to acknowledge I'm a fan. I still deny it. This rendering is of a certain professional basketball team’s owner. If the image looks familiar, it should. It’s inspired by the famous picture of Curley from the Three Stooges. He’s a fitting model, don’t you think?

If my niece is infatuated with fairies, my son is obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. For his Thomas & His Friends themed 3rd birthday I did this rendering. It is framed 8” x 10” and was also used for the thank you cards. I was pretty happy with myself when I did it, until I showed it to my son. He was terrified of it for some reason. I had to put the picture away, but after a month or so he asked for it. Now he loves it now and it's displayed prominently in our dining room.

The last rendering is of me and the nine friends I grew up with back in the Bronx done in cartoon style. Besides my real brother, they are the closest I could ever have to brothers. In the center is Jamel. Going clockwise starting at the top is Mike, Carl, Willie, Clay, Bennie, me, Juan, Sergio, and Jamie. Sergio was murdered on January 20, 1991, and I think of him constantly. My brothers and me have gone through life and death together and they will forever remain in my heart.
